So Paris Jackson is trending in Ghana, and it is because of money matters around her late father’s estate. Michael Jackson’s daughter has gone to court in Los Angeles asking that $600 million from the Michael Jackson estate be put into the family trust for her and her two brothers. That is a big number, so of course people want to know who she is and what is going on. Let me explain.

Quick facts

  • Full name: Paris-Michael Katherine Jackson
  • Born: 3 April 1998
  • Birthplace: Beverly Hills, California, USA
  • Parents: Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe
  • Siblings: Prince Jackson (older brother) and Bigi Jackson (younger half-brother)
  • Work: Model, actress and singer
  • Debut album: Wilted (2020)

Growing up as Michael Jackson’s daughter

Paris was born on 3 April 1998 in Beverly Hills. She is the middle child and only daughter of Michael Jackson, and the second child of Debbie Rowe. After her parents divorced in 2000, her father got full custody and raised her and her brother Prince himself. She grew up at the famous Neverland Ranch, and her godparents were Elizabeth Taylor and Macaulay Culkin. If you remember those old photos of Michael’s kids wearing masks in public, that was them, he did it to hide their faces from the press.

Everything changed on 25 June 2009 when her father died suddenly. She was only 11. The world saw her at his memorial on 7 July 2009 when she said that since she was born, Daddy had been the best father you could ever imagine, and then she broke down. After that, she and her brothers were raised by their grandmother Katherine Jackson and their cousin TJ Jackson. She went to the Buckley School in Sherman Oaks, where she played softball and flag football and did cheerleading.

Modelling and acting

Paris stepped out on her own in 2017. In January that year she was on the cover of Rolling Stone, and in March she signed with IMG Models. That same month she made her acting debut with a guest role on the Fox show Star. Her first feature film was Gringo in 2018. Later she appeared in the third season of the VH1 series Scream, in the film Habit, and she played Maya in American Horror Stories, the spin off of American Horror Story, in 2021.

She has kept modelling too. In September 2024 she walked the runway at Paris Fashion Week for Maison Yoshiki Paris, the fashion brand of the Japanese rock star Yoshiki.

The music

Honestly a lot of people don’t know Paris makes music, and it is not pop like her father, it is more folk and soft rock. In 2018 she and musician Gabriel Glenn started a duo called The Soundflowers, where she sings and plays ukulele. They released a self titled EP in 2020.

She then signed with Republic Records. Her first solo single Let Down came out in October 2020 and her debut album Wilted followed in November 2020. In 2022 she released the Lost EP, then the single Lighthouse, which has a 90s grunge look that pays tribute to Nirvana, and a single called Just You. A song she did with Gabriel Glenn, Notes on a Ghost, won Best Music at the Top Indie Film Awards in 2021.

Family and legacy

Paris has stayed close to her father’s legacy. In June 2022 she and Prince went to the Tony Awards to support MJ the Musical, the Broadway show about their dad, and they introduced a performance from it. She has also been involved in questions about how the estate is run. In July 2025 she objected in court to the estate’s request for legal fees, raising concerns about what she called irregular payments.

Why she is trending right now

Here is the story. According to reports in early November 2026, Paris filed a petition asking the court to order a reasonable, partial distribution of $600 million from her father’s estate into the family trust that benefits her, Prince and Bigi. Under Michael Jackson’s will, his children get their money in stages as they get older, and her side argues that the executor should have funded the trust long ago. Her petition says the lack of funding has left the siblings depending on the executor for money.

The estate, run by executor John Branca since 2009, disagrees. It says more than $200 million has already been distributed for the benefit of Paris and the other beneficiaries, that it cannot fully fund the trusts until legal issues are settled, including a long running tax case with the IRS, and that the claim that payments were cut is false. A spokesperson for Paris told People that the estate is deflecting.

So it is a family and legal matter that is still before the court, and nothing has been decided yet. We will update this when there is a ruling. Until then, that is Paris Jackson, the girl from Neverland who grew up to be a model, actress and singer making her own way.
