Editorial Policy
This policy describes the standards we apply to every biography published on HQBios. It exists so readers, and the people we write about, know what to expect from us.
Sourcing Standards
- Biographies are compiled from publicly available sources such as interviews, official websites, verified social profiles, reputable news reporting and official records.
- Important facts such as dates, titles, roles and awards should be supported by at least one reliable source, and preferably more than one.
- Where sources conflict, we use the better-documented version or state that the point is disputed.
- If we cannot verify a detail, we leave it out rather than guess.
- We update articles when reliable new information becomes available.
No Speculation on Net Worth or Family of Private People
We do not invent or estimate personal finances, and we do not speculate about family members, relationships, health or other private matters. Net worth or income figures are only included when they come from a clearly identified, credible source, and we say that they are estimates. Relatives and partners who are not public figures themselves are not named or described unless the subject has publicly spoken about them or they are widely and reliably reported in connection with the subject’s public life.
Minors Policy
We take extra care with anyone under 18. We do not publish private details about minors, such as home location, school, or personal circumstances. We avoid naming the children of public figures unless the information has been shared publicly by the family and is relevant. If a parent or guardian asks us to remove or edit information about a minor, we will act on the request quickly.
Image Policy
- We aim to use images that we have the right to use, such as images with a suitable open licence, official press images, or images we have permission to publish.
- Where an image requires credit, we provide it.
- We do not knowingly use images that infringe copyright.
- If you own an image on our site and want it credited or removed, email [email protected] with the page link and details, and we will review it promptly.
Corrections Process
We want our biographies to be right. If you spot an error, or you are the subject of an article and something is inaccurate, please email [email protected]. Include the page link, the statement you believe is wrong, and a supporting source if you have one.
- We review each report and check it against reliable sources.
- Verified errors are corrected as soon as practical.
- For significant corrections, we may add a short note at the bottom of the article saying what was changed.
- If we cannot verify a claim, we may remove it.
Removal Requests
If you believe an article contains private or sensitive information that should not be published, contact us at the same address. We will consider each request fairly and act on well-founded ones.
AI-Assistance Disclosure
Our team may use software tools, including AI-based writing and research tools, to help with drafting, editing and organising information. These tools can make mistakes, so content is reviewed by our editors against public sources before or after publication, and we correct errors when we find them. Tools do not replace editorial responsibility for what we publish.
Advertising and Independence
Advertising on the site does not affect our editorial decisions. We do not accept payment to alter or remove accurate information.
