Early life and education
Pulse Nigeria’s July 2024 biography says Peace Pever Anpee was born on 10 December 1998 and raised in Gboko, Benue State. It says she attended WM Bristow Secondary School in her hometown and went on to Nasarawa State University to study guidance and counselling. The Guardian Nigeria describes her as growing up in a middle-class family in Gboko. She has said she balanced her university degree with early content creation. She keeps her family life private, and while some websites list parents’ and siblings’ names, we leave them out because she has not confirmed them in interviews we could access.
How she started on TikTok
In several interviews Purple Speedy explains that she first heard about TikTok in 2019 and was drawn to its acting and lip-sync videos. “If you check my first video on TikTok, it was me mimicking a particular person. So, I wanted to do acting,” she says. She then noticed the dance trends. There was a dance class at her school at 5 p.m., so after lectures she would change and go to class, and from there she began following TikTok dance trends. She left the app for a while and returned after getting a better phone. Her serious content creation began in 2020, when the Covid-19 lockdown kept people at home.
Her first video to go viral came in December 2020, a dance to Goya Menor’s “Ameno Amapiano”. She says she was “just basically vibing to the song”, people asked her to recreate it, and she did. She names Liquorose and Jenni Frank as early inspirations, and says Liquorose later phoned to tell her to keep going.
The purple brand
Her stage name comes from her love of the colour. In a 2023 interview quoted by Pulse she said purple has always been her favourite colour. When she was younger she did not have the resources to buy everything she wanted in purple, so she decided to build her look around it, and notes that purple is less common than other colours. Fans know her for purple hair, clothes and accessories. In a sponsored BellaNaija interview she said people often ask where her purple outfits come from, because she assembles them herself, and that she would like to start a clothing brand and a dance school. These are stated ambitions, not launched businesses; we found no evidence either exists yet.
Audience size
Follower numbers have grown quickly, but figures differ by date and source:
- In 2023 The Guardian, Independent and ThisDay reported more than six million followers and over 100 million likes.
- In July 2024 Pulse Nigeria reported a following of more than 11 million on TikTok and 1.2 million on Instagram.
- In 2026 an analytics site, TokGauge, listed about 18.3 million followers. That is a third-party tracking figure, and numbers move daily, so treat it as a snapshot.
Notice that the 2023 pieces from Guardian, Independent and ThisDay share the same quotes, the same follower figures and the same story. They look like coverage generated from one press interview rather than three independent investigations, which is why we do not count them as three separate confirmations.
Making money as a creator
In the sponsored BellaNaija piece from September 2023, Purple Speedy said Nigerian TikTok creators were not then paid directly for views, so income came from brand promotions and music promotions. She added that she expected the platform to grow much bigger in the following five years. The conditions of TikTok’s creator payments may have changed since then; we have not checked, and the interview was labelled as sponsored content.
Why dance creators matter for Nigerian music
BellaNaija’s interview describes Purple Speedy as a “beacon for musicians and brands looking to leverage her popularity” on TikTok. Her own explanation of how the system works is simple: if people enjoy a trend you start, even unintentionally, brands and music teams notice and pay for promotion. That is consistent with how her breakout happened, since a single dance to an Amapiano track brought her an audience. It also means her income depends on algorithm-driven attention, which can shift quickly, and on private promotional contracts whose fees are never published. No reputable outlet has reported her earnings, so any figure quoted elsewhere is an estimate.
Awards
Pulse Nigeria credits her with Dance Influencer of the Year at the 2022 Pulse Influencer Awards and with a TikTok influencer award in 2024. The 2024 award is described only in a post on her own TikTok account, which thanks the “Gage awards”, so we could not confirm the organiser or category independently. We list it as reported, not verified.
Relationships and private life
Pulse Nigeria reported in 2024 that she was in a relationship with TikTok creator Crispdal. Entertainment sites in 2026 have run stories about the relationship, including a viral video in August, but they rely on social-media clips and we found no statement from either person confirming the current situation. For that reason this profile does not say whether she has a boyfriend today. Earlier online claims about a car and specific family members are also unconfirmed and are not repeated here.
2026 and beyond
Tracking sites list Purple Speedy as an active creator in 2026, with dance challenges and viral clips, including one from 29 May that analysts recorded at about four million views. These are analytics estimates. We found no verified announcements of new business launches, albums or television roles in 2026.
What we could not verify
- Her date of birth, which appears in Pulse Nigeria’s profile and on many aggregator sites but not in any interview we could open.
- The names of her parents and sisters.
- Her degree completion; Pulse says she went to study guidance and counselling, not that she graduated.
- The 2024 TikTok award and the organisation behind it.
- The current state of her relationship.
- Her income, endorsements and any property or car: no reliable source has published them.
- Whether the clothing brand and dance school she mentioned in 2023 were ever launched.
- Her exact follower numbers today.
