Sadiu Aliyu Mohammed began his professional career at the NNPC. During his time there, he served in major leadership roles such as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) and Managing Director of Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC). He later became Group Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Gas & Power Directorate at NNPC.

Throughout his career, he has contributed significantly to the design and implementation of major infrastructure projects related to the natural gas industry. Mohammed also played a significant role in the framing of the Petroleum Industry Act, and he represented Nigeria at global forums on gas policy and energy cooperation.

President Bola Tinubu nominated him as CEO of NMDPRA, a regulatory body responsible for the oversight of refining and petroleum distribution.
