Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami was born on the 20th of October 1972 in the Pantami ward of Gombe State into the family of Alhaji Ali Ibrahim Pantami and Hajiya Amina Umar Aliyu. Growing up, Pantami balanced his formal education with Islamic studies from a young age, laying the foundation for his career as both a civil servant and an Islamic scholar.
Pantami pursued his early education in his hometown before gaining admission into the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree in Computer Science. He later proceeded to obtain a PhD in Computer Information Systems from Robert Gordon University in the United Kingdom.

Pantami kickstarted his career in academia by teaching information technology and computer science courses at Nigerian universities, including his alma mater. He later took up an international academic role at the Islamic University of Madinah, where he gained valuable experience and exposure.
His venture into public administration began when he was appointed Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA). In that role, he prioritised Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and ICT development.
In 2019, Pantami was appointed Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy.
