EARLY LIFE AND FAMILY
Alex Otti was born on the 18th of February, 1965, in Umuru, Umuehim Village of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area, into the family of the late Pastor and Mrs Lazarus Weze Otti.
Otti attended Ngwa High School, Aba, and Secondary Technical School at Okouala Ngwa, where he excelled to the extent that he was the best graduating student of his set.
Otti continued his academics at the University of Port Harcourt, where he graduated with a First Class Degree in Economics in 1988. He later earned an MBA from the University of Lagos and attended executive programs at renowned institutions such as Columbia Business School, Stanford Business School, Wharton, and INSEAD.
CAREER AND RISE TO FAME
Otti began his journey into the banking sector with Nigerian International Bank. Over the years, he held multiple senior roles at prestigious banks such as the United Bank for Africa and First Bank of Nigeria.
In 2011, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Diamond Bank Plc. Under his leadership, the bank made strides and inroads into the banking sector.
When he transitioned to politics, Otti contested for the Abia State Governorship position under the banner of the All Progressives Grand Alliance twice, in 2015 and 2019. He eventually won in 2023, under the banner of the Labour Party.
PERSONAL LIFE AND LEGACY
Alex Otti is married to Priscilla Otti, and they have three children.
