Michael Dappa: Nollywood Actor, Credits and What Is Verified
Michael Sodienye Dappa is a Nigerian actor from Rivers State who has become a frequent presence in Nollywood romance and drama films since the early 2020s. He is credited as Denzel in the 2024 Niger Delta drama Kill Boro, as Dave Oche in Makemation (2024) and as Isaac in the 2025 zombie film Alive Till Dawn. Reliable coverage of him is thin. Most biographical detail about him appears on film-database and biography sites that copy each other, so this profile separates the few facts that several sources agree on from the many that rest on a single listing, and it says what we could not confirm.

Background
Nollywood.com describes Dappa as a fast-rising Nigerian actor, model and influencer, born on 26 January 2000 in Opobo, Rivers State, who launched his professional acting career in March 2021. NollyMeter also lists his birth as 26 January 2000 in Rivers State, and the African Movie Database repeats the date, the Opobo birthplace and an Ibani Ijaw background and adds that he is also a master of ceremonies and media personality who started in modelling before acting. Opobo is a town in the Niger Delta in Rivers State, historically associated with the Ibani people. These listings are consistent with each other, but they appear to be drawn from a common source and not from an interview or a document, so we present the birth date and place as reported, not confirmed.
Other sites give a fuller life story, including a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Lagos, training at a film academy, a height, parents’ names and siblings. We could not find these in an interview, a university record or any mainstream news report, and some details differ between sites, so we have left them out. For the same reason, we do not repeat the net worth figures that appear on biography sites. One of them presents a dollar range for his wealth without naming a source.
Career: a long list of credits
The most useful evidence of Dappa’s career is his credit list. The African Movie Database lists 79 film credits between 2024 and 2026, mostly as an actor, with one producer credit, and lists his most frequent co-stars as Ekama Etim-Inyang (12 films), Harriet Akinola, Bolaji Ogunmola and Sophia Chisom. It also says the producer he has worked with most is Omoni Oboli, with 24 credits, ahead of Susan Ogutuga and Tomi Adeoya. Nollywood.com, which has a smaller listing, names Omoni Oboli, Ekama Etim-Inyang and Chioma Edak among people he often works with. These are database counts, not audited figures, and the databases may include direct-to-streaming and YouTube releases that other lists omit, so the true number may be higher or lower. They do show that he works steadily, especially in romance and family dramas: the database’s genre breakdown counts 74 dramas and 71 romances among his titles.
Titles mentioned in the databases include Spice of Love, Fragments of You, Lekki or Nothing, Street Blues, Love and Legacy, Chapters of the Heart, Meet the Parents, Memories with You, Hidden Love, It Blooms in June, Love Looks Good on You, The Price of Love, The Perfect Lie and Danfo and The Rose. The African Movie Database says he plays a photographer named Kelvin Philips in the 2025 romantic comedy Short and Sweet. We could not confirm each title or year against a producer’s own announcement.
Kill Boro (2024)
His best-documented role is Denzel in Kill Boro, a Niger Delta drama by first-time feature director Courage Obayuwana, released on 30 May 2024 as part of a series from Natives Filmworks, according to Film Efiko. The story follows Elijah, a teenage boy played by Kosisochukwu Ogboruche, who plots to have his violent father, Boro (Philip Asaya), killed to protect his mother Boma (Ini Dima-Okojie). Elijah is the youngest member of a gang led by Bossman Atemie, and the older gang members include Denzel, played by Dappa, and Lyd, played by Blessing Uzero.
Reviews of the film focus on Asaya and Dima-Okojie, and mention Dappa only briefly. Film Efiko, which gave the film 6.5 out of 10, wrote that the restraint of Gregory Ojefua’s gang boss performance “is perhaps why Uzero and Dappa get the chance to shine”. A search summary of other reviews says one critic felt Dappa did not convey enough authority in the role and another thought Denzel’s costume and dialogue did not match the character; we did not read those pages in full, so we cannot quote them. The Nollywood Reporter’s review called the film “uneven” but a powerful look at family trauma, and praised its cinematography and its use of authentic Pidgin English. The takeaway is that Dappa’s part in Kill Boro was supporting and drew mixed but generally mild comment.
Alive Till Dawn (2025 and 2026)
TMDB lists Dappa as Isaac in Alive Till Dawn, which Nollywood.com’s news page described as Nigeria’s first zombie apocalypse film. The Nollywood Reporter says it was released in cinemas on 30 January 2026, is set in Abuja and follows a group of survivors trapped in a police station during a sudden outbreak. It was directed by Sulaiman Omotola Ogegbo and produced by Leo Obienyi with actor-producer Uzor Arukwe. The film earned ₦20.2 million in its opening weekend and over ₦74 million before leaving cinemas, the outlet says, and its own review called the film “audacious but uneven”. The Nollywood Reporter’s cast interview did not mention Dappa, so we cannot say more than that he is credited in the cast.
Reading the credits carefully
Several things make a profile of Dappa harder than that of an established star. First, he works under a name, Michael Dappa, that is easily confused with other people called Dappa. Second, film databases are partly user-edited, and TMDB itself says it has no biography for him. Third, some listings give different years for the same film; for example, TMDB lists Makemation and Kill Boro in 2024 and Alive Till Dawn in 2025, while the cinema release was in January 2026. Fourth, the number of credits is inflated by short-run streaming releases. Readers wanting to cite a credit should check the film’s own release notes or a platform listing.
Social media and public profile
Nollywood.com and the African Movie Database both describe him as a model, influencer or media personality, but we found no independent reporting on his follower numbers, endorsements or events, and no news interviews that we could confirm. We therefore do not describe his public persona beyond the fact that these sites call him an influencer.
What we could not verify
- Birth date and place: repeated across database sites but not confirmed by a primary source.
- Ethnic group (Ibani Ijaw): one listing.
- Education and training claims (University of Lagos, film academy): found only on biography sites.
- Family details, relationship status and physical statistics: not in reliable sources, and omitted.
- Net worth: no verifiable source; we do not publish an estimate.
- The count of 79 credits and the list of frequent collaborators: database statistics, not audited.
- Whether the reviews describing his Kill Boro performance were fairly summarised: we read two reviews in full and relied on a summary for the others.
