Oriyomi Abdulrahman Hamzat was born on the 5th of March 1980 in Ibadan, Oyo State. Hamzat was born into a family with strong roots in the media. His father, who was Asimiyu Adekunle Hamzat, was a journalist with the Nigerian Television Authority. Growing up, Hamzat shared his father’s passion for media and storytelling, which shaped the trajectory of his career.

Hamzat initially pursued a Diploma of Geology at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, before studying Mass Communication at Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa. In 2023, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Language Arts at the University of Ibadan.

Hamzat began his professional journey in media as a print journalist at The Guardian newspaper before venturing into broadcast journalism.
