Omije Oju, born Olubunmi Akinnaanu Adeoye, was born on the 19th of November 1979 in Lagos, Nigeria. Ojumi spent her early years in an environment that nurtured her love and passion for worship and spirituality. From a very young age, Ojumi demonstrated an exciting talent for praising the Lord through music.
Ojumi enrolled at the prestigious Lagos State University and pursued formal education in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. Before Ojumi began her gospel music career, she worked in the banking industry for over ten years. Eventually, her heart led her towards full-time service in gospel music and evangelism. Later, she stepped down from her position in the banking industry and pursued her passion and love for gospel music full-time.

Omije Ojumi kick-started her career with a unique voice and captivating lyricism that quickly garnered public attention. Her breakthrough came with the release of the song Omije Ojumi Mi, which is in Yoruba and translates to Tears of My Eyes. This song became a powerful worship anthem that deeply resonated with the gospel music community.
Subsequently, Ojumi released other tracks such as O Ti Sure, Testimony, and Samiye. These songs gained significant recognition and solidified her position as a committed gospel artist. Moreover, her music focuses on themes of faith, hope, perservance and divine intervention.
Additionally, Ojumi used her ministry to engage in gospel outreaches, church programmes, and revival meetings where she combined worship with encouragement and exhortation, drawing her followers into a deep experience and knowledge of God, themselves, and their faith.

Omije Ojumi was deeply devoted to her career and ministry. She kept her personal life private. Sadly, Ojumi kicked the bucket on the 12th of January 2026 at a hospital in Lagos after battling a prolonged leg-related illness.
Omije Ojumi’s legacy lives on through her music and her deep impact on her followers, courtesy of her evangelical ministry. Members of the gospel music community, pastors, church leaders, fellow artists, and gospel music fans have continued to pay tribute to her influence. Though she is gone, her songs and messages will continue to live on in the hearts and minds of her followers and the gospel community.
