Badaru Abubakar was born on the 29th of September 1962 in the town of Babura in Jigawa State. Abubakar started his primary education at Babura Central Primary School before proceeding to Rumfa College in Kano State for his secondary education. After graduation, he proceeded to the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria, where he got a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Career and Rise to Prominence
Abubakar initially worked as an auditor in the Kanio Civil State Service before proceeding to found the Talamiz Group. a corporation that engaged in businesses such as manufacturing, commodity trading, agriculture, and more, establishing itself as a standout businessman in the Northern region.
Abubakar Badare rose to the position of Governor in Jigawa State in 2015 after running under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He won the re-election in 2019 after the success of his first term, gaining massive support from his people. As Governor, he focused on improving agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure development, etc.
In August 2023, he was further elevated by the Tinubu administration to become Nigeria’s Minister of Defence. He oversaw the defence apparatus of the Nigerian armed forces amid security challenges in the nation.
