Early Life and Education

Joe Igbokwe was born on the 30th of April in the year 1956 in Uruagu located in the commercial city of Nnewi. He completed his primary and secondary education in Nnewi. After this, he got admission to study Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in Enugu State, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering in the year 1985. He undertook his NYSC assignment in Ogun State. Igbokwer also undertook training in public relations and political communications, which really helped to elevate his political career.
Career and Rise to Prominence

After his NYSC assignment was completed, Igbokwe moved to Lagos and ventured into private enterprises. Joe Igbokwe founded companies such as Optimum Plaza and First Grade International Ltd in 1988. Igbokwe is also responsible for founding National Vision Newspapers Ltd, establishing himself as a media entrepreneur.
His transition to civil service came about when he was appointed the pioneer General Manager of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency for his background as an engineer. Igbokwe was the Lagos State Chairman of the defunct Action Congress, which eventually merged with other parties to form the All Progressives Congress. By 2015, Igbokwe became the Public Relations Officer of the APC in Lagos State, handling the party’s communication strategy in the state.
